About...Simon Tengende : Artistic Director

I was born in 1975 at the height of the liberation war and grew up in Zimbabwe. The eldest son in a family of six, I have fond memories of spending holidays at the family plot and my grand mothers farm in Murehwa. Storytelling, music and drama were an influential and integral part of my life. I studied Theatre Arts at the University of Zimbabwe and migrated to Australia in 2004. I have directed and performed in theatre projects with various Melbourne Arts companies and am a Multicultural Arts Professional Development alumni [MAPD]. I am currently studying for my Masters in Community Cultural Development at Victoria College of the Arts.

Multicultural Arts Professional Development (MAPD) is a national leadership program initiated by the Australia Council for the Arts, and presented by the Australian Multicultural Foundation, RMIT University and Kape Communications. www.kape.com.au
